Dr Xisco Reus Perello
General Practitioner
Xisco grew up in Mallorca, a beautiful island of Spain. He studied Medicine at the University of Barcelona and returned to Mallorca in order to complete his specialization in Family and Community Medicine, the equivalent of General Practice in Australia. He has been practicing in Australia since 2022 and obtained a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
He is passionate about General Practice because it is one of the few specializations that treats patients with a biopsychosocial model. He knows his patients’ medical history but also likes to know who they are as a person, their families, their jobs, their hobbies… Offering person-centered care. Because who we are will translate into how we manage our health.
Xisco is also involved in research. His area of focus is the management of patients with polypharmacy (taking multiple medications) and deprescribing inappropriate medications, especially in the elderly. He is one of the authors of the first Deprescribing guidelines in Australia focused on older people. Xisco enjoys all areas of general practice but has a special interest in aged care, LGBTQI+ health, including gender affirming therapy, minor surgery, including toenail surgery, removal of skin lesions, and steroid injections, as well as palliative care.
